Are You Landscaping Your Front Yard?

Did you just move into a new house? Or, it might be that you have lived in your home for awhile. In either case, maybe the only existing landscaping is a nice green lawn. While that's a great way to start a beautiful landscape for your front yard, you more than likely want to add more interest.

Do you have a landscaping plan already? If not, from including a hard scape in your landscape design to arranging for wood fence installation, here are some ideas that might help you.

A Wood Fence Installation - Besides providing privacy and safety for your home, a wood fence will also add interest to your landscape plan. It might even increase the value of your home. There are so many different styles of wood fences that you might have a hard time selecting the one you want. In that case, go with the type of house you have to make your selection.

For example, if you have a ranch style house or a cabin type house, then a brown wood fence will more than likely complement your house best. On the other hand, if you have a cottage style house or a traditional home, then a white fence might be your best choice.

No matter what style or color you select for your wood fence, you can be sure that it will perform well in bad weather. A fence might be costly, but it will last for many years, so it will be well worth the cost.

A Hard Scape Design - Think of having a hard scape along with your regular landscape design. For example, create a hard scape in a strategic part of your front yard. Perhaps you will choose an area where your lawn isn't well established. Surround the hard scape with an ornamental concrete border, or with a brick border. As part of your hard scape, have planted succulents and decorative natural grasses. Add color by buying pots and filling them with colorful flowering plants. Statuary will also add interest to the hard scape. For instance, a large angel surrounded by some of the pots would add a very unique look.

As you plan your regular landscape, think of ways you can enhance it. For example, if you have existing trees, think of hanging things like ferns and decorative bird houses from the branches. If you don't have trees, think of planting things like crepe myrtles which will someday add color to your front yard.
